Hi friends,
Chronic anxiety can feel like a constant voice in your ear; quiet some days, overwhelming the others. It’s exhausting to carry that weight long-term, but the good news is that God’s Word speaks directly into this struggle. Today we’re gently unpacking what the Bible says about chronic anxiety, discovering how Jesus invites us to exchange ongoing worry for His steady, lasting peace.
Open up your Bible and let’s read 1 Peter 5:6-7 together. Let these words sink in.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV)
Casting Means Releasing, Again and Again
Peter doesn’t say “cast your anxiety once and be done.” He uses a fishing term that implies throwing something away with force. For those of us with chronic anxiety, this casting often happens daily, or sometimes even multiple times a day.
It’s an active choice to hand over the same worries we picked up yesterday. God isn’t annoyed by the repetition; He’s honored by our continual trust. When we release our fears to Him instead of clutching them tighter, we’re saying, “I believe You’re stronger than this anxiety, and You love me enough to carry it.”
He Cares for You—Personally and Deeply
The reason we can cast our anxiety on Him? Because He cares for you. Not in a distant, general way, but with the tender affection of a perfect Father who knows every detail of your struggle.
Chronic anxiety can whisper that we’re too much, that our worries are burdensome. But Peter reminds us that nothing about us is too heavy for God. He sees the late-night spirals, the physical tension, the weary heart, and His response is care, not criticism.
I’ve been finding so much comfort lately in a gentle guided journal that helps me pour out those repeating worries on paper before bringing them to God. It’s been a sweet tool for casting anxiety in a tangible way.

Waiting on His Timing with Hope
The verse before the casting promise talks about God lifting us up “in due time.” Chronic anxiety often makes waiting feel impossible, yet there’s quiet hope here: God has a timing, and it’s rooted in His mighty hand.
While we wait for fuller relief— whether that comes through healing, counseling, medication, or His nearness, He’s already holding us. Humbling ourselves under His hand means acknowledging we’re not in control, but the One who is completely trustworthy is.
A Simple Practice for Today
When anxiety rises, try this gentle casting prayer:
Place one hand on your heart and the other open in front of you.
Inhale slowly: “Lord, I have this worry again.”
Exhale: “I cast it onto You because You care for me.”
Repeat three times, imagining yourself tossing the anxiety into His strong, waiting hands.
Closing Prayer
Father,
Thank You for inviting me to cast every single anxiety on You. Not just once, but as often as it returns. Help me believe deep in my bones that You truly care for me, even when chronic worry makes that hard to feel.
Lift me up in Your perfect timing. Until then, hold me close and cover me with Your peace. Teach me to release instead of grip tighter, trusting Your mighty hand over my life.
I rest in Your care today.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
