Hi friends,
Anxiety has a way of making trust feel impossible some days, doesn’t it? Our minds race with what-ifs, and letting go into God’s hands can feel risky when everything inside us wants to hold on tighter. Today we’re looking at a passage that gently shows us how to trust God when anxious, inviting us to bring every worry straight to Him and receive His peace in return.

Open up your Bible and let’s read Philippians 4:6-7 together slowly. Let the words settle over you like a blanket.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
Surrendering Anxiety Through Prayer
Paul doesn’t start with “stop feeling anxious”— he starts with an invitation: bring it all to God. Every situation. Every fear that wakes you at 3 a.m. Every worry that loops in your mind on repeat.
Prayer isn’t about having the perfect words; it’s about honest conversation with the One who already knows your heart. When we pour out our anxieties instead of carrying them alone, we’re practicing trust one prayer at a time. It’s okay if it feels small or messy at first. He meets us right there.

Adding Thanksgiving to the Mix
This part always surprises me: with thanksgiving. Even in the middle of anxiety?
Thanksgiving shifts our gaze. It reminds us that God has been faithful before, and He will be again. It doesn’t deny the hard things, but it anchors us to the good things He’s already done. A simple “Thank You for being with me right now” can soften the grip of worry and make room for trust to grow.
I’ve been loving this beautiful gratitude journal lately, it has gentle prompts that help me notice God’s kindness even on heavy days, and the soft floral cover makes opening it feel like a little act of self-care.

Receiving a Peace That Guards
The promise here is breathtaking: His peace will guard our hearts and minds. Not a flimsy calm that depends on circumstances, but a deep, transcendent peace that stands watch like a sentinel.
This peace doesn’t always remove the anxiety immediately, but it protects the most vulnerable parts of us, the places where fear tries to take root. Trusting God when anxious means believing this guard is already in place the moment we bring our worries to Him.
A Simple Breath Prayer for Today
When anxiety starts to rise, try this gentle breath prayer:
Inhale: “I bring my worries to You.”
Exhale: “And receive Your peace.”
Repeat it a few times, slowly, letting your shoulders drop and your heart quiet.
Closing Prayer
Father,
I admit that trusting You feels hard when anxiety is loud. Thank You for inviting me to bring every single worry to You instead of carrying it alone. Help me pour out my heart honestly and remember Your past faithfulness with gratitude.
Replace my racing thoughts with Your peace that goes beyond what I can understand. Guard my heart and mind today as I choose to trust You one moment at a time.
I rest in Your care.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
